    By having a Veterinary Physiotherapist as part of your team you are helping to identify any musculoskeletal problems early. Our job is to continually assess your horse statically and dynamically as well as work with you to form a comprehensive fitness plan which aims to support you both in reaching your goals.

    Whether you are a single horse owner or compete a string of horses, our therapists can help develop strength, and suppleness whilst avoiding injury.

  • Performance

    For sports horses it is essential to be in peak physical condition to allow optimal performance. We work closely with elite horses and riders, both at home and at competitions, to ensure we are providing a bespoke and professional service. Working alongside your vet, farrier, nutritionist and trainer, the team at Vet Physio UK will work through your season devise a comprehensive plan for maximum success.

  • Recovery

    Following injury or surgical intervention, our specialist Veterinary Physiotherapists can aid recovery through pain management, restoring function and constructing a rehabilitation programme to return your horse to its best.

    We will work closely with your vet, farrier and other supporting professionals to ensure that every angle of your horse’s recovery is covered.

What will your appointment involve?

  • When we arrive we will start by taking a thorough history and assessing your horse both statically and dynamically. In some cases we will see the horse on the lunge and under saddle. we are looking for subtle gait abnormalities and musculoskeletal compensations.

  • after assessing your horse dynamically we will thoroughly palpate to gain a more thorough picture of how they feel. this includes testing their joint range of movement through their neck, back and limbs.

  • Once we have completed a thorough assessment we will be able to form a treatment plan. We have a multitude of modalities available to us including Therapeutic Ultrasound, LASER, manual techniques, TENS, NMES and PEMF.

  • Your VP will give you a comprehensive post-treatment programme to follow before your next visit. If required, a report can be sent to you Veterinary Surgeon or another member of your team. Your VP will be available to you for any questions you may have between visits. Just give them a call.
